I truly cannot believe how quickly these last 8 and a half months have flown by! Last year at this time I was starting to get swollen and uncomfortable - and now here I am with a wild little boy that I never in a million years knew I could love this much! Last month he started saying "Mama," but I told Ben that we aren't counting it as his first word, because he only says it when he is whining for me to pick him up! I want to make sure that he is actually referring to me when he says mama before I call it his first official word - but Ben says I've earned it and deserve for mama to be the official first word! Haha we'll see, I guess!
Our latest challenge is all about feeding - I have officially decided to quit breastfeeding. Even typing it on here I feel guilty about it - my goal was to do it for just a few more months, and then the frozen milk would get us through the rest of the year. At least, that was my plan until he bit me. And drew blood. Ouch! is all that I can really say about that! And unfortunately when I sternly tell him "No," he laughs at me! So after I tried once more the next day and he bit me again, I decided that it was the end - time to move on! Most people don't even last this long, right?! No matter what logic I use I still feel guilty about it, but I know he will survive and it won't kill me to buy a few cans of formula until he turns 1! Hopefully the milk I froze will last us a while :) :)
Our other current feeding challenge is with real food - he loves his pureed foods still, and he will eat crackers, yogurt, waffles, and a few other goodies, but for the most part he refuses anything with texture! He gags at almost anything that goes in his mouth - so I keep trying different things and hoping against hope that I don't have a super picky child!!
I should also mention that Noah started "big boy crawling" last week - up on his hands and knees! He still loves to army crawl, but at least he is doing it both ways now!
Ben finished his last final of his second year of school a week ago, and he took a few days off to spend time with his family. I can't even explain how good it feels to have him back - even just for a couple of days before he hits the books again to get ready for his first board exam! I know he misses spending time with Noah, too, but he is so good about taking time each day to play with his son so he doesn't miss out on anything!

He was supposed to be napping, but he discovered that he could not only stand during play time, but in his crib, too!! |
He was proud of himself - notice the mobile he knocked over on the end of the bed?? |
I straightened it back up - I think he is trying to decide the best way to knock it down again :) |
We took advantage of the beautiful weather earlier this week and walked to Clay Terrace to have breakfast at Paradise Bakery |
I wanted to take pictures, but Noah wanted to eat the camera...therefore, the next few pictures are out of focus, but I still love them :) |
Huh? |
Always eating Cooper's toys! |
This is the last time he nursed - and I needed a picture of how sweet his face looks because that is what I will miss most! If this weirds you out, I'm sorry. Well, not really... |
Ben tried to keep him awake so I could see him when I got off work...but Noah couldn't resist the blanket, and daddy couldn't resist those rare snuggle times with our active baby! |
I had to work on my very first mother's day, so daddy and Noah came to visit me downtown! Noah kept grabbing for my drink, so I let him play with the straw - couldn't figure it out, though! He just needs more practice :) |

Sweet, sweet piggies :) Or piggums! |
